Rhythm of Liberation

$2000.00

This mixed-media portrait reimagines Miriam at the moment of song and dance after

deliverance, drawing from Exodus 15:20: “And Miriam the prophetess… took a

tambourine in her hand, and all the women came out after her with tambourines and

with dances.”

Using acrylics, watercolor, fabric, gelli-printed papers, upcycled wallpaper, ink, gold

leaf, and stamping, Miriam emerges as both historical figure and sacred icon—radiant,

celebratory, resolute. Her lifted hand gathers a lace-like veil, suggesting motion, ritual,

and leadership. Gold leaf evokes sanctity while a ring of handwritten text circles her

like a chorus. Stylized blue waves symbolize the parted sea—liberation and

passage—while embedded fish signify life and abundance. The tambourine represents

rhythm, unity, and prophetic voice; layered textures mirror history and memory, making

Miriam a visual hymn to feminine leadership, resilience, and communal joy.
