biography
Donicé is a self-taught mixed-media artist whose work draws on Jewish identity, cosmopolitan upbringing, and a lifelong intuitive practice across painting, textiles, pottery, and found materials. Blending traditional craft with contemporary experimentation, she creates collages, mixed media pieces, and Judaica that foreground color, texture, and recurring motifs—birds, trees, ritual objects—to explore identity, memory, resilience, and spiritual connection. Her pieces mine personal, cultural, and ecological histories to evoke introspection and communal belonging. Donicé’s work has appeared in group exhibitions and private collections.
artist statement
My work begins with a spark—an idea that unfolds and transforms as I engage with it. What starts as a simple vision becomes a conversation, as each piece evolves organically and often leads me in unexpected directions.
I work across a wide range of materials, including textiles, found objects, and hand-crafted elements. Stitching is always present, serving as a unifying thread that connects each piece. My process is intuitive and exploratory, guided by color, texture, and symbolism I discover through collecting, making, and reimagining materials.
I rarely complete a piece in a single sitting. Instead, I allow time, movement, and reflection to shape the work. Periods of rest are an essential part of this process, often giving rise to new ideas through stillness and meditation.
At its core, my work is an exploration of spirit—an attempt to make visible what is often felt but not seen.
